Useful Info before ordering
Colour
The shade of colour you are seeing on your screen will depend on your screen settings so if you want to be sure of the exact shade of colour you will be ordering we recommend you pop along to our outdoor display area in Whitstable or order samples.
Mighty Deck Composite Decking and Fencing: As with all single extruded composite decking, there can be slight variances in the shade of the colour so we advise shuffling the boards as they are installed.Once installed and exposed to the sun they will lighten (on average around 20%) but once stabilised they will not continue to lighten. We recommend either coming to see our outdoor displays here in Whitstable or ordering samples and leaving them outside for a while so you can see how they will look both on install and once they have gone through the weathering process.
Mighty Crown Capped Decking: If you are looking for decking that will not fade/ barely fade then Mighty Crown will be the decking for you. Mighty Crown is manufactured differently and the CAP material is highly UV resistant. We have had our Mighty Crown installed in our outdoor display here in Whitstable all Summer and each is still the same colour as our samples.
Quantities
Decking
Depending on your design and how it is installed, on average, you will need 2 x deck boards per square metre and 12 clip sets per board. Your starting side will need a starter clip set every 300 mm. We do recommend ordering 5 to 10 % more than you think you will need to allow for wastage and to avoid having to order more and pay for another delivery.
If you have any queries or need help working out quantities needed please don't hesitate to contact our friendly knowledgeable team.
Edging
If you have any exposed sides of your decking area (edges or faces where you would see the ends or edges of the boards and joists) we have a lovely choice of edging to match or contrast with your decking. You simply need to measure the total length of exposed edges and divide by 3.66 and round up to the nearest full length and this will give you the number of edge boards you need.
Fencing
12 fence boards sloted on top of each other makes a 6 foot x 6 foot panel
Installation
Please ensure you and your installer follow the full installation instructions paying particular attention to ensuring you have 300 mm joist centres, air flow under the boards and when laying the decking, you allow for expansion and contraction by leaving a gap at the end of every board.
If you are using timber joists we recommend C24 treated timber and our Mighty Joist Tape to protect the top and ends of the joists from water and moisture.
Please be aware that any warranty is void if not installed correctly.
Caring for your boards
All our boards have “anti algae” in them so algae will not grow inside them however that does not stop algae from sitting on top or indeed anything else so to keep your decking looking fabulous, slip resistant and lasting a lifetime we recommend keeping it clean by brushing your decking regularly with warm soapy water then with plain water.
